Immigration

The Canadian government, at the federal and provincial level, offers more than 100 immigration programs. These programs are constantly changing, according to the needs identified by the Immigration Department. Navigating Canadian immigration laws can be complex. Obtain expert advice from our regulated Canadian immigration consultant (RCIC) who is a member in good standing with The College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) and has over 10 years of experience helping individuals and Canadian corporations achieve their immigration goals.

Express Entry

Express Entry is an electronic system that manages three economic immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades and Canadian Experience Class. Candidates who qualify under one of these programs can create an Express Entry profile and have a chance to receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence (ITA). Express Entry is a points-based system called the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Due to its highly competitive nature, understanding the program and its applicability is essential to maximize your chances of success.

Work Permits

A foreign national must obtain a work permit or be authorized to work without one in order to be legally employed in Canada. Temporary workers can apply under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, which requires a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to fill temporary labour shortages or under the International Mobility Program (IMP) which is LMIA exempt. There are several types of work permits, each has their own eligibilities and criteria that must be met.

Study Permits

A study permit enables international students to access Canada’s renowned education system. The first step is to choose the right program and educational institution that aligns with your goals. Whether you are interested in learning English or French, pursuing high school courses, or enrolling in a college or university program, understanding the study permit process and how to apply is crucial for a smooth start to your educational journey in Canada.

Visitor visa

A Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) is a visa that allows you to visit Canada for short-term (6 months), whether for tourism, visiting family or friends, or short-term business activities. If you are a citizen from a visa exempt country and you are traveling by air, you may only need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

Supervisa

The Super Visa is a multiple-entry visa that allows eligible parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for up to 5 years at a time without needing to renew their status. A standard visitor visa typically allows you to stay for up to six months.

Extensions

Stay in Canada longer by applying to extend your stay as a visitor, student or temporary worker.

It is extremely important that temporary residents (students, workers and visitors) maintain their legal status in Canada by requesting an extension of their temporary residence before it expires.

As long as you apply for an extension before your current status expires, you will be granted “maintained status” by the Canadian government. This allows you to stay in Canada under the same conditions until a decision is made, even if your current status has expired.

Provincial Programs

Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories, with more than 80 different immigration programs that are designed to help them address their specific economic and labor market needs. Each province and territory has its own unique streams and specific requirements. Candidates who receive a provincial nomination can use it to apply for permanent residency through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Sponsorship

Canada’s Family Sponsorship Program is designed to reunite Canadian citizens and permanent residents with their families from abroad. This program allows eligible individuals to sponsor their close family members such as spouses, common-law partners, dependent children, parents, and grandparents for permanent residency in Canada. It is important to understand the eligibility criteria, application process, and responsibilities of sponsors in these types of applications.

Caregiver

Canada depends on foreign workers to fill the shortage of skilled labor in caring for children, the elderly, the disabled and people with high health care needs.

This is a highly rewarding job, because of the help you can offer to people who need care.

Over the years, the Canadian government has offered numerous programs aimed at caregivers who want to work temporarily or obtain permanent residency in Canada.

Some of the factors that are taken into consideration are knowledge of English/French, educational level, work experience and job offer.

LMIA

The Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that some employers need to obtain before hiring a foreign worker. An LMIA assesses the impact that hiring a foreign worker may have on the local job market. If the LMIA is positive, the foreign worker can apply for a work permit through Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Citizenship

Becoming a Canadian citizen after obtaining permanent residency (PR) offers several significant advantages and benefits. To apply for citizenship, you must be a permanent resident who meets residency requirements, demonstrate language proficiency, and have a good understanding of Canadian history, values, and institutions.

Self-employed

The Self-employed program is aimed at those who are able to establish themselves financially in Canada, working on their own and contributing to the country’s economy. Only areas focused on culture, athletics and farm management are part of this program.

Start-up Visa

The Start-Up Visa program is aimed at entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas who want to establish their start-up ventures in Canada. The goal is to contribute to Canada’s economy by creating jobs and promoting innovation.
